Christian representatives allege that the Uniform Civil Code is being used to label prayer sounds as evidence of forced conversions, calling the measure restrictive.

Christian leaders have voiced strong concerns that the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is being applied in a way that restricts their religious practices. They argue that the code, intended to unify personal laws, is now being interpreted to target specific aspects of Christian worship.
The leaders pointed to recent instances where the sound of prayers has been cited by authorities as a basis for alleging forced conversions. According to them, such interpretations turn ordinary expressions of faith into criminal accusations, creating an atmosphere of suspicion around routine religious activities.
In response, the Christian representatives called on the government to safeguard religious freedom and to ensure that the UCC is not misused to curb legitimate worship. They urged a transparent dialogue with policymakers to prevent any undue restriction on minority faiths.
