A group of schoolchildren walked about 15 kilometres through heavy rain caused by a cyclone to press local authorities for a permanent school building in Chhattisgarh.
Several schoolchildren from a remote village in Chhattisgarh braved continuous rain linked to a recent cyclone, covering roughly 15 km on foot to reach the nearest administrative centre.
Their objective was to press authorities for the construction of a permanent school building, which they say is essential for regular classes after the monsoon damaged existing structures.
The march underscores growing concerns in the state about educational infrastructure in cyclone‑prone areas, with local officials expected to review the petition after the children’s arrival.
