The Chhattisgarh government has launched the Nari Shakti model to place women at the core of decision‑making bodies.
The state of Chhattisgarh has introduced a new initiative called the Nari Shakti model, aimed at increasing female participation across its governance structures. Under the scheme, women are being positioned in key roles within legislative committees, local self‑government bodies and policy‑making panels. The program seeks to ensure that women's perspectives shape the formulation and implementation of public policies.
Implementation is being coordinated by the state’s Department of Women and Child Development, which is working with district administrations to identify qualified female leaders for the newly created posts. Training workshops and capacity‑building sessions are also part of the rollout, helping women officials to effectively contribute to governance processes.
State officials say the model is expected to improve gender balance in decision‑making and bring a more inclusive approach to development planning. By institutionalising women's involvement, the government hopes to address long‑standing gaps in representation and deliver services that reflect the needs of all citizens.
