A group of young volunteers from Chhattisgarh have begun the Mission Rakshak programme, receiving paramilitary training in a former Naxal‑affected area.
Chhattisgarh’s youth are taking part in the newly launched Mission Rakshak, a scheme that provides basic paramilitary instruction to civilians willing to serve the nation’s security forces. The participants, drawn from various districts of the state, have assembled in an area that was previously identified as a Naxal stronghold.
The training ground, described as an ex‑Naxal hub, offers a realistic environment for drills that include weapons handling, tactical movement and emergency response. Officials overseeing the programme say the location was chosen to familiarize trainees with terrain that security forces often operate in.
Mission Rakshak aims to create a reserve of motivated locals who can be mobilised quickly in times of internal security challenges. By equipping young citizens with disciplined skills, the initiative hopes to bolster community resilience and support the broader objectives of the state’s defence strategy.
