The Chhattisgarh government has announced a ₹3,942 crore initiative to improve digital connectivity across its rural districts.

The state of Chhattisgarh has unveiled a massive digital connectivity programme worth ₹3,942 crore aimed at bridging the internet gap in its rural heartland. The funding is earmarked for laying broadband infrastructure, setting up community internet centres and strengthening last‑mile connectivity to villages that have remained offline.

State officials said the scheme will be rolled out in phases, beginning with districts that have the lowest internet penetration. By extending high‑speed broadband to schools, health centres and local businesses, the government hopes to spur economic activity and improve access to education and tele‑medicine services.

The initiative aligns with the central government's broader Digital India agenda, seeking to ensure that even the most remote corners of the country can participate in the digital economy. Implementation will be overseen by the state’s Department of Information Technology in partnership with telecom operators and local bodies.

While detailed timelines have not been disclosed, the announcement signals a decisive push to modernise rural infrastructure and reduce the digital divide in Chhattisgarh.
