The state government has announced a rural tourism programme aimed at generating income and empowerment for tribal villages across Chhattisgarh.
The Chhattisgarh government has rolled out a new rural tourism initiative designed to create livelihood opportunities for tribal communities. Officials said the scheme will channel resources toward developing tourism infrastructure in remote villages, allowing locals to earn from homestays, guided tours and the sale of traditional crafts.
By promoting the cultural and natural assets of tribal areas, the programme seeks to diversify income sources that have traditionally relied on agriculture and forest produce. The administration expects that increased visitor footfall will translate into higher earnings for households and stimulate ancillary businesses such as transport and food services.
The initiative also aims to preserve tribal heritage by showcasing local customs, festivals and handicrafts to tourists. State authorities have indicated that training and capacity‑building measures will be provided to ensure that community members can manage tourism activities sustainably.
