The Chhattisgarh state government announced a new curriculum that will teach students about the region’s art, music and cultural heritage.
The state government of Chhattisgarh has approved the inclusion of dedicated lessons on the state's rich artistic and cultural traditions in the school syllabus, officials said.
The initiative, rolled out by the Department of School Education, aims to expose students from primary to secondary levels to folk dances, tribal music, traditional crafts and historical narratives that define Chhattisgarh’s identity.
Curriculum experts will develop teaching modules in collaboration with local cultural institutions and artists, ensuring that content is age‑appropriate and aligns with existing academic standards.
The program is slated to begin in the upcoming academic year, with pilot schools in Raipur and other districts receiving training and resource kits.
Officials hope the move will foster pride in regional heritage and encourage preservation of intangible cultural assets among the younger generation.
