The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister announced that he will appoint silver medalist Gyaneshwari Yadav, who won a silver at the Commonwealth Games, as a Deputy Superintendent of Police.

The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced on Thursday that he will appoint Gyaneshwari Yadav, a silver medalist at the Commonwealth Games, as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

Yadav, who hails from a small village in the state, clinched the silver in the women's 400 metres hurdles at the Games held in Birmingham, England, in 2022. The announcement was made during a press briefing at the state secretariat.

The move is seen as a landmark decision, signalling the state government's intent to reward sporting excellence with meaningful career opportunities. It follows a broader trend of governments offering public sector jobs to athletes across India.
