In a tense 14‑hour session, the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly voted to defeat a no‑confidence motion against Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, ensuring the stability of the state government.

On Tuesday, the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly convened for a 14‑hour debate that culminated in the defeat of a no‑confidence motion against Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

The motion, tabled by the opposition Indian National Congress, alleged that the government had failed to deliver on key promises and was seeking to destabilise the state.

After extensive discussion, the assembly voted 112‑5 in favour of the motion, but the motion was defeated with 113 votes against, allowing the Sai government to retain its majority.

Chief Minister Baghel thanked his party and supporters for their “unwavering faith” and pledged to continue delivering on development plans for the state.
