The state has introduced the ‘Chendru’ award to give Chhattisgarh’s rural tourism a fresh identity, aiming to boost local tourism initiatives.

The ‘Chendru’ award has been launched by the Chhattisgarh government to give the state’s rural tourism a new identity. The initiative seeks to highlight and celebrate the unique cultural and natural assets found in the rural districts of the state.

Chhattisgarh is known for its dense forests, tribal heritage and scenic villages, all of which form the backbone of its rural tourism sector. Despite this rich potential, many rural areas have struggled to attract visitors due to limited visibility and marketing.

By introducing the ‘Chendru’ award, the state hopes to encourage villages and local communities to develop and promote tourism offerings that reflect their distinct traditions and landscapes. The award is expected to serve as a catalyst for investment and collaboration between local stakeholders and tourism agencies.

If successful, the program could lead to increased tourist footfall, create employment opportunities for residents, and help preserve the cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh’s rural communities.
