Chardham Yatra Reaches Record 47 Lakh Pilgrims in 114 Days

The Chardham Yatra, a major Hindu pilgrimage that visits the four sacred sites of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Dwarka and Puri, drew a record 47 lakh devotees over a period of 114 days. The Assam Tribune reports that this figure eclipses previous tallies, marking the highest number of pilgrims ever to undertake the journey in a single season. Pilgrims travelled across Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Odisha, with state‑run transport and security arrangements ensuring smooth movement. The influx of devotees is expected to boost local economies, with increased demand for accommodation, food and transport services. Officials highlighted the need for better crowd management and infrastructure upgrades to accommodate future pilgrimages.
