Char Dham Pilgrimage Halted Until Today Due to Severe Weather

The Char Dham pilgrimage has been suspended until today because of adverse weather conditions across Uttarakhand.
The state government has ordered a temporary suspension of the Char Dham Yatra until today, citing deteriorating weather conditions in the Himalayan region. Officials said heavy rain, landslides and reduced visibility on mountain roads made travel unsafe for pilgrims and support staff.
Authorities have advised devotees who were en route to the four sacred sites—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath—to remain at safe locations until conditions improve. Rescue and medical teams remain on standby along the routes.
The suspension is expected to be lifted once weather forecasts turn favorable, and the administration will issue further notices regarding the resumption of the pilgrimage.
