On the second day of the Punjab legislative session, Congress members shouted slogans outside the house, prompting the speaker to call for decorum.
The Punjab Legislative Assembly convened for its second day of the current session on Tuesday, with lawmakers gathering in Chandigarh to discuss pending bills and state issues. Shortly after the proceedings were set to begin, a sudden uproar broke out as members of the opposition Congress party staged a vocal protest outside the chamber.
Congress legislators raised slogans against the ruling party, chanting repeatedly while the assembly doors remained open. The chants created a noisy environment that interfered with the speaker's attempt to start the day's agenda.
In response, the speaker halted the session and addressed the members, urging everyone to maintain the dignity of the house and to keep their language within the bounds of parliamentary decorum. He emphasized that the assembly must function without disruption and reminded members of the rules governing conduct.
Following the admonition, the speaker sought to restore order before resuming the scheduled discussions. The incident highlighted the heightened tensions between the ruling coalition and the opposition ahead of upcoming legislative debates.
