Chanderpaul lauds Shai Hope’s free‑flowing batting without reckless shots

Former West Indies stalwart Shivnarine Chanderpaul commended opening batsman Shai Hope for his ability to score runs with ease without resorting to reckless strokes. Chanderpaul highlighted that Hope’s natural timing and shot selection allow him to rotate the strike and find boundaries without taking undue risks.

Hope’s recent innings, where he compiled a brisk half‑century, exemplified the approach Chanderpaul described. The West Indian opener combined a relaxed stance with crisp footwork, making the most of loose deliveries while leaving the ball outside the off‑stump untouched.

Analysts noted that such a balanced style is valuable in modern limited‑overs cricket, where aggression must be tempered by discipline. Chanderpaul’s endorsement adds weight to Hope’s growing reputation as a dependable top‑order batsman for the West Indies.

The comments came ahead of the upcoming series, where Hope is expected to anchor the innings and provide stability at the top of the order.
