The central government announced that 2,441 hectares of land in Jammu & Kashmir have been brought under micro‑irrigation schemes since the 2015‑16 fiscal year.

The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has released figures showing that 2,441 hectares of farmland in Jammu & Kashmir have been brought under micro‑irrigation since the 2015‑16 financial year.
Micro‑irrigation, which includes drip and sprinkler systems, is designed to reduce water usage and increase crop yields.
The initiative is part of the central government’s effort to promote water‑efficient farming in the hilly regions of the Union Territory.
Officials say the programme will be expanded further in the coming years to cover more acres and support local farmers.
