Union Minister Prahlad Joshi announced that the central government will extend its maximum assistance to Karnataka as the state grapples with severe drought conditions.

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi told reporters that the central government is prepared to provide the "best support" to Karnataka, which is currently facing a serious drought. He emphasized that the assistance will be coordinated with state authorities to address immediate water shortages.

The drought, affecting large parts of Karnataka, has led to declining groundwater levels and stressed agricultural output. Farmers across the state have reported reduced crop yields and increased reliance on borewells, prompting calls for urgent relief measures.

Joshi did not detail the specific nature of the support but indicated that central schemes and funds would be mobilised promptly. State officials are expected to submit a detailed plan to the centre outlining the required interventions, including water conservation projects and financial aid for affected farmers.
