The Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved an additional 320 postgraduate medical seats across institutions in Himachal Pradesh, expanding opportunities for aspiring doctors.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced on Tuesday that it has approved an additional 320 postgraduate medical seats across the state of Himachal Pradesh.
The new seats will be distributed among the state’s existing medical colleges, including the Government Medical College in Shimla, the AIIMS in Dharamshala, and other institutions that meet the required infrastructure and faculty standards.
Health officials say the expansion aims to address the shortage of specialist doctors in the hilly region and to improve access to tertiary care for residents.
A spokesperson for the ministry said the decision follows a review of the state’s medical education capacity and aligns with the national goal of increasing the number of trained physicians.
