The Government has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act to three districts in Arunachal Pradesh and to selected areas in Namsai district, as announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Ministry of Home Affairs announced today that the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) will now apply to three districts in Arunachal Pradesh and to a few areas within Namsai district. AFSPA grants the armed forces special powers in regions where insurgency or armed conflict is a concern. The decision follows consultations with state authorities and is aimed at strengthening security along the sensitive northeastern frontier. The extension is part of a broader strategy to maintain stability in the border areas and to support local law‑enforcement agencies.
