The Union government has cleared an additional 84,492 metric tonnes of moong procurement for Madhya Pradesh's summer 2026 season, bringing the state's total approved purchase to 539,000 tonnes.

New Delhi has given the green light for an extra 84,492 metric tonnes of moong to be bought from Madhya Pradesh under the summer 2026 procurement programme. The decision raises the state's overall approved purchase quota to 539,000 tonnes for the season. This move is part of the central government's effort to stabilise market prices and ensure a remunerative minimum support price for farmers.

The additional allocation is expected to provide much‑needed cash flow to small and marginal growers who rely heavily on pulse cultivation. By expanding the procurement window, the government aims to prevent price volatility that often hits producers during the post‑harvest period.

With the total purchase limit now exceeding half a million tonnes, Madhya Pradesh's pulse output will have a guaranteed outlet, reducing the risk of unsold stock and supporting the state's agricultural economy. The procurement will be carried out through the existing network of APMC mandis and designated procurement centres across the state.
