The Union government plans a significant push to develop tourism in West Bengal in the coming months.
New Delhi has signaled a comprehensive tourism initiative aimed at West Bengal, intending to attract more domestic and international visitors. The central government's plan includes infrastructure upgrades, promotional campaigns, and potential funding for heritage and eco‑tourism projects across the state.
State officials are expected to coordinate with the Ministry of Tourism to identify key destinations such as Darjeeling, Sundarbans and the historic sites of Kolkata. The focus will be on improving connectivity, enhancing visitor facilities, and marketing West Bengal's cultural festivals on a national platform.
While detailed budgets and timelines have not been released, the announcement suggests a collaborative effort between the Centre and the West Bengal government to position the state as a premier travel destination in the near future.
