The Union Home Ministry has sent Rapid Action Force companies to Arunachal Pradesh following a surge in violence, aiming to restore law and order.

The Union Home Ministry announced the dispatch of several Rapid Action Force (RAF) companies to Arunachal Pradesh in response to recent outbreaks of violence in the state. The central government’s decision underscores its commitment to quickly address law‑and‑order challenges in the far‑east region.

The RAF, a specialized wing of the Central Reserve Police Force, is trained for crowd control, riot management and rapid deployment in crisis situations. Its units are expected to work alongside state police to contain unrest, protect civilians and prevent further escalation.

Violent incidents reported from multiple districts have heightened concerns about communal and ethnic tensions, prompting the central authorities to intervene. While details of the clashes remain limited, officials indicated that the situation required immediate reinforcement.

Authorities have not disclosed the exact number of personnel deployed, but the RAF presence is slated to remain until the state administration deems the security environment stable. The central government has urged local leaders to cooperate fully with the forces to ensure a swift return to normalcy.
