The Central Bureau of Investigation has petitioned the Supreme Court to move the Tvesha Sharma death case trial from Bhopal to Delhi, citing fears that former district judge Giribala Singh may influence the hearing and intimidate witnesses.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an application before the Supreme Court seeking the transfer of the trial in the Tvesha Sharma death case from the Bhopal sessions court to a Delhi court. The agency argues that a change of venue is essential to safeguard the integrity of the proceedings.
According to the CBI, there is a credible risk that former district judge Giribala Singh, who previously presided over related matters, could attempt to influence the trial and intimidate key witnesses. The bureau highlighted specific instances where the judge’s past actions raised doubts about his impartiality.
Relocating the case to Delhi, the CBI contends, would provide a neutral environment and better protection for witnesses, thereby ensuring a fair trial. The petition stresses that the safety of those testifying is paramount for justice to be served.
