CBI says Rs 80 lakh of diverted CREST funds used to purchase property in Goa

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has revealed that roughly Rs 80 lakh, taken from the CREST fund, was channelled into the purchase of a real‑estate asset in Goa. The agency said the money was diverted from the scheme and subsequently used to acquire the property, marking a clear case of financial misappropriation.

According to the CBI’s statement, the investigation uncovered the flow of the diverted funds and traced them to the Goa transaction. The bureau is now examining the chain of beneficiaries and the documentation surrounding the purchase to determine the full extent of the irregularity.

The Indian Express reported the development, noting that the CBI’s findings could lead to further legal action against those involved. Officials have not disclosed the exact location of the property or the identities of the individuals linked to the transaction.
