The Central Bureau of Investigation has issued a red notice concerning alleged financial irregularities in the hiring, deployment and salary payments of outsourced staff in Chandigarh.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has formally issued a red notice in connection with a suspected fraud involving outsourced recruitment for various government departments in Chandigarh. The notice follows a preliminary probe that uncovered discrepancies in the way contractors were hired, deployed and remunerated.
According to the CBI, the irregularities pertain to inflated invoices, unauthorized salary disbursements and possible collusion between private staffing agencies and officials responsible for contract awards. The agency has seized relevant documents and is interrogating key personnel linked to the outsourcing process.
State officials have expressed concern over the allegations and assured cooperation with the central agency. The Punjab government has ordered an internal audit of all outsourced contracts to determine the extent of the financial loss and to prevent future misuse of public funds.
The investigation is ongoing, and the CBI has warned that any attempts to tamper with evidence or obstruct the inquiry will attract strict legal action. Further updates are expected as the probe progresses.
