The Catholic Church has unveiled Mission 2033, a synodal‑driven programme aimed at strengthening catechetical instruction across Bihar.

The Catholic Church announced the launch of Mission 2033, a strategic programme designed to renew catechetical formation throughout the Bihar region. Framed as a "synodal dawn," the initiative seeks to involve clergy, religious educators and lay members in a collaborative process of faith formation.

Mission 2033 outlines a ten‑year roadmap that will culminate in 2033, focusing on updated teaching materials, intensive trainer workshops and the establishment of local catechetical centres. The synodal model emphasises shared decision‑making, encouraging parish communities to tailor instruction to local cultural contexts while remaining aligned with universal Church teaching.

Church officials indicated that the programme will initially target primary schools and youth groups, gradually expanding to adult faith‑formation circles. Partnerships with diocesan offices and existing Catholic NGOs are expected to provide the logistical and financial support needed for the rollout.

If successful, Mission 2033 aims to raise the quality and reach of Catholic religious education in Bihar, fostering a more engaged and informed laity ahead of the centennial celebrations planned for the early 2030s.
