Canon has rolled out a new firmware for its EOS C80 and EOS C400 cinema cameras, introducing a dedicated cinema exposure mode, AE ramping compensation and support for CN30x40 lenses.

Canon announced a firmware upgrade for its EOS C80 and EOS C400 cinema‑camera lines, as reported by CineD. The update is available for download from Canon’s official support portal and can be installed via the camera’s menu system.
The key addition is a dedicated Cinema Exposure Mode, designed to give cinematographers finer control over exposure curves suited to narrative filmmaking, rather than the standard still‑photo settings.
Alongside the new mode, the firmware introduces AE Ramping Compensation, which automatically adjusts exposure during lighting transitions to maintain consistent image brightness.
The update also adds compatibility with CN30x40 lenses, expanding the range of optics that can be paired with the cameras without manual work‑arounds.
Canon says the firmware will be rolled out globally over the next few weeks and recommends users back up existing settings before installation.
