A candidate contesting against Nitin Nawan’s father has been omitted from the electoral roll, prompting the Election Commission to admit a possible mistake during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

The electoral roll for a constituency in Bihar shows the name of a candidate, who was slated to contest against the father of Nitin Nawan, absent from the list. The omission was highlighted after the candidate’s campaign team could not locate the entry during the final verification phase.

The Election Commission has responded by stating that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists may have contained an error. It clarified that a detailed inquiry will determine whether the mistake originated at the level of the Chief Election Commissioner or during lower‑level processing.

Patna‑based newspaper Amar Ujala has released documents it says prove the oversight, arguing that the commission will be compelled to acknowledge the fault. The development adds pressure on authorities ahead of the upcoming polls, as parties seek clarity on the validity of the voter list.

The commission has assured that corrective measures will be taken if the error is confirmed, and that affected voters will be added before the election schedule proceeds.

Stakeholders, including the candidate’s supporters, are awaiting the outcome of the investigation, which could influence the final candidate roster and voter confidence in the electoral process.
