Canal Breach Halts Drinking Water Supply in Ganderbal, J&K

A breach in the Sindh Extension Canal has cut off drinking‑water supply to several localities in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Sindh Extension Canal, which carries water to the Ganderbal region of Jammu and Kashmir, suffered a breach early on Wednesday. The rupture caused an immediate interruption of the treated drinking‑water flow to households and public taps across the district.
Local authorities were alerted and emergency crews were dispatched to the breach site to assess damage and begin repairs. Meanwhile, the district administration has instructed residents to conserve any stored water and has arranged for tanker deliveries to the most affected villages.
