Canadian authorities have issued warrants for 17 Punjabi students linked to 59 extortion and shooting incidents across the country.
Canadian law enforcement agencies have announced that 17 individuals identified as Punjabi students are wanted in connection with a series of extortion and firearm-related offenses.
The suspects are alleged to have been involved in 59 separate incidents spanning multiple provinces, where victims were coerced for money and, in several cases, faced gunfire.
Police have released details of the suspects, including names and photographs, and are urging the public to report any information that could lead to their arrest. The investigation is being coordinated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in collaboration with provincial police forces.
Authorities have warned that the suspects may attempt to flee the country and have alerted immigration officials. No arrests have been made so far.
The case underscores growing concerns about organized crime networks operating within diaspora communities in Canada.
