A Canadian minister said the country is confident that trade negotiations with India will be wrapped up before the end of the year.
New Delhi – A senior Canadian minister expressed optimism on Monday that the bilateral trade talks with India will be finalized before the calendar year closes. The official highlighted the progress made in recent rounds and said both governments are keen to seal a comprehensive agreement that could boost commerce between the two economies.
The negotiations, which have been ongoing for several months, aim to address tariff reductions, services market access and investment protections. Analysts view a deal as a strategic move for Canada to diversify its trade partners, while India seeks greater market access for its growing export sectors.
The minister added that the two sides will continue intensive discussions in the coming weeks, with a view to signing a joint statement by December. If concluded, the pact could pave the way for increased bilateral trade volumes and deeper economic cooperation.
