The Union Cabinet has sanctioned a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for central government employees and pensioners, effective from January 1, 2024.
The Union Cabinet met on Thursday and approved a 2% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for all central government employees and pensioners.
The decision, announced by the Ministry of Finance, will increase the monthly earnings of civil servants and retirees by a modest amount aimed at easing the impact of inflation.
The hike will take effect from 1 January 2024, and the updated figures will be reflected in the next pay cycle.
This move is part of the government’s broader effort to provide cost‑of‑living adjustments for public servants across the country.
