By‑polls end in five Assam assembly seats and one Lok Sabha constituency; results on Oct 9

The Election Commission of India has completed by‑polls in five assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha constituency in Assam. Voting took place over the past few days to fill vacancies that arose earlier this year. The commission has scheduled the declaration of results for October 9, when the winning candidates will be officially notified. These seats are crucial for the state’s legislative balance, and the outcomes could influence the political dynamics ahead of the next general elections. Political parties and observers are closely monitoring the count, expecting the results to reflect current voter sentiment in the region.
