Villagers in Burhanpur alleged that a vehicle distributing wheat under the Annadut scheme was loaded with stones hidden among the grain, sparking a protest.

Earlier this week, residents of Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh raised concerns over a distribution vehicle operating under the central government's Annadut scheme. According to the villagers, several stones were discovered concealed among the wheat sacks loaded in the truck, prompting accusations of malpractice.

The aggrieved locals gathered at the distribution point, halted the vehicle and demanded an immediate inspection. They claimed that the presence of stones not only compromised the quality of the grain but also suggested possible diversion or adulteration of the food aid meant for the poor.

Local authorities responded by assuring the public that a formal inquiry would be launched. Officials from the district's food procurement department said they would verify the contents of the vehicle, trace its loading point, and take corrective action if any irregularities are confirmed.

The Annadut scheme, launched to provide subsidised wheat and rice to vulnerable households, has faced scrutiny in several states. This incident underscores the need for stringent monitoring to ensure that the intended beneficiaries receive untainted supplies.
