Indore Municipal Corporation, assisted by JCB and Poklen, removed illegal structures obstructing the Chhawani road widening, including a second demolition of the Mathurwala building after eight years.
On Friday, the Indore Municipal Corporation carried out demolition work on Chhawani road as part of the city’s master‑plan road‑widening project.
Using heavy equipment such as JCB excavators and Poklen machines, the team cleared a number of illegal hotels and commercial shops that were encroaching on the planned carriageway.
One of the structures removed was the Mathurwala building, which authorities noted had previously been cleared eight years ago, making this its second demolition under the same scheme.
Officials said the clearance will ease traffic congestion and improve safety in the densely populated Chhawani area, and that further removal of obstructions will continue until the widening is completed.
The municipality has urged affected owners to follow relocation guidelines and has promised compensation where applicable.
