The Bharatiya Samajwadi Party has lost its only legislative assembly member following his death, putting the party at risk of losing all its parliamentary representation after 37 years.

The Bharatiya Samajwadi Party (BSP) has lost its sole Member of Legislative Assembly after the death of its only representative in the state assembly. The demise has left the party without any elected presence in the lower house, a situation that could lead to the loss of all its parliamentary seats after 37 years of representation.

The deceased MLA had been the only BSP member in the state legislature, and his passing has triggered a by‑poll that will determine the party’s future in the assembly. If the party fails to secure a seat in the upcoming election, it will no longer hold any representation in either house of Parliament.

Political analysts note that the BSP’s long‑standing presence in the national legislature is now at risk, as the party’s only foothold in the state assembly has been severed. The party’s leadership has called for a swift response to contest the forthcoming by‑poll and retain its parliamentary status.

The death also coincides with the end of a Rajya Sabha MP’s term, further compounding the party’s challenges. The BSP will need to mobilise resources quickly to avoid a complete loss of representation in both houses of Parliament.
