Border security forces seized 5.050 kg of opium and 5.012 kg of heroin in the Amritsar region, close to the India‑Pakistan frontier.
Border security forces (BSF) announced that during routine patrols near the India‑Pakistan frontier in the Amritsar district, they recovered 5.050 kg of opium and 5.012 kg of heroin. The seizure was made in the vicinity of the border, where the BSF regularly monitors illicit drug trafficking routes. The recovered drugs are believed to be part of a larger smuggling network operating across the border. The BSF has stated that the operation was carried out in accordance with the Anti‑Narcotics Act and that the seized drugs will be handed over to the Central Drugs Control Bureau for further processing. The incident underscores the ongoing efforts by Indian security agencies to curb drug trafficking in the Punjab region.
