BSc (Honours) Graduates Eligible for MTech Admissions in AICTE‑Recognised Colleges

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced that graduates of four‑year BSc (Honours) programmes are now eligible to seek admission to Master of Technology (MTech) courses in its recognised institutions. This policy change expands the traditional pathway to MTech, which previously required a BTech or equivalent engineering degree.

Applicants must satisfy the AICTE‑specified eligibility norms, which include a minimum aggregate percentage in the BSc (Honours) degree and, where applicable, qualifying scores in national entrance examinations. Colleges that hold AICTE approval will evaluate candidates based on these criteria before granting admission.

The move is expected to broaden access to advanced technical education, allowing science graduates to pursue specialised engineering specialisations without undertaking an additional undergraduate engineering degree. Educational institutions are advised to update their admission brochures and inform prospective students of the new eligibility framework.
