The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has accused the Telangana state government of acquiring agricultural land from farmers to make way for the proposed high‑speed rail corridor.

The opposition party Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has lodged a formal complaint alleging that the Telangana government is forcibly acquiring farmland belonging to local cultivators for the upcoming high‑speed rail project. In a statement released on Tuesday, BRS leaders claimed that the land acquisition process bypasses proper compensation and consultation with the affected farmers.

The bullet‑train initiative, envisioned as a fast‑track rail link connecting Hyderabad with major regional hubs, requires a substantial stretch of agricultural land along its proposed alignment. While the state has promoted the project as a catalyst for economic growth and improved connectivity, BRS says the method of land procurement threatens the livelihood of thousands of farmers.

The Telangana administration has not yet issued an official response to the accusations. The dispute adds to a growing list of land‑related controversies in the state, where rapid infrastructure development often collides with agrarian interests.

If the allegations are substantiated, the issue could prompt legal challenges and demand a review of the compensation framework, potentially delaying the rail project’s timeline.
