The sixth edition of the Shillong Literary Festival in 2026 will be headlined by Booker Prize winners Kiran Desai and Damon Galgut.
Shillong, Meghalaya – Organisers of the Shillong Literary Festival have confirmed that the 2026 edition, the event's sixth installment, will be anchored by two internationally acclaimed authors. Booker Prize winners Kiran Desai, known for her nuanced storytelling, and South African novelist Damon Galgut, celebrated for his compelling narratives, will serve as the festival's headline speakers.
The literary gathering, which has grown into a prominent cultural fixture in the North‑East, aims to provide a platform for writers, readers, and scholars to engage in discussions, workshops, and readings. By featuring prize‑winning authors, the festival seeks to elevate its profile and attract a wider audience from across the country.
While specific program details remain forthcoming, the inclusion of Desai and Galgut signals a focus on contemporary fiction and cross‑cultural dialogue. The event is expected to draw literary enthusiasts, students, and publishing professionals to Shillong later in 2026.
