Boleng, a small town in Arunachal Pradesh, has been selected to host the Asian Rafting Championship from 6 to 9 October 2026. The event will bring together paddlers from across the continent to compete on the Brahmaputra tributaries that flow through the region.
The championship is expected to attract teams from countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, and several Southeast Asian nations, providing a boost to local tourism and showcasing Arunachal’s pristine waterways.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu visited the site on Tuesday to inspect the infrastructure. He praised the rapid progress of the riverbank upgrades, safety installations, and accommodation facilities being set up for athletes and officials.
Officials say the state will continue to invest in training camps and environmental safeguards to ensure the event runs smoothly and leaves a lasting legacy for adventure sports in the Northeast.
