Boat capsizes near Gandhi Setu in Hajipur, three missing

A boat collided with a boulder and sank near Gandhi Setu in Hajipur on Tuesday, leaving three of the roughly ten passengers unaccounted for.
On Tuesday, a passenger boat operating near the Mahatma Gandhi Setu in Hajipur struck a submerged boulder and went down in the Ganges. The incident occurred close to the bridge's Paya No. 9, a known navigation point on the river.
According to local rescue teams, about ten people were aboard the vessel at the time of the accident. Seven of them were rescued safely by the river police and volunteer boatmen who responded promptly to the distress call.
Three passengers remain missing despite ongoing search efforts. Authorities have launched a coordinated operation involving the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority, the Indian Navy, and local volunteers to locate the missing individuals.
The incident has prompted calls for stricter safety checks on river transport, especially during the monsoon season when water levels and currents pose heightened risks.
