The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation announced a payment of ₹20 crore to settle compensation for Film City land occupied by the Goregaon‑Mulund Link Road twin‑tunnel project.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has confirmed that it will disburse ₹20 crore as compensation for the portion of Film City land that was utilised during the construction of the twin‑tube tunnel on the Goregaon‑Mulund Link Road. The payment is intended to settle any outstanding land‑acquisition issues linked to the project.
The tunnel forms a key segment of a 7‑km elevated corridor designed to ease traffic flow between western and central Mumbai. During the early stages of the work, a tract of the Film City campus in Goregaon was requisitioned, and the municipal body is now remitting the agreed amount to the Film City authority.
Officials said the settlement will clear legal hurdles, allowing tunnel works to progress uninterrupted. The transaction also highlights the high cost of urban land in Mumbai and underscores the city’s commitment to completing the link road, which is expected to cut travel time between Goregaon and Mulund.
