BJP wins four seats, SP takes Varanasi Teachers' seat in UP MLC count

The counting of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC) elections has begun, following the recent polling across the state. Results released so far show the Bharatiya Janata Party emerging victorious in four of the seats under tally. The Samajwadi Party, meanwhile, secured the Teachers' constituency seat in Varanasi, a seat reserved for educators. Both parties have hailed the outcomes as a reflection of their support bases, while analysts note the results could influence upcoming legislative dynamics in the state. The final count is expected to be completed in the coming days, after which the full composition of the council will be confirmed.
