During Diwali, BJP Madhya Pradesh chief Hemant Khandelwal purchased diyas from a local potter’s footpath stall in Betul, urging shoppers to choose locally made products.
BJP Madhya Pradesh president Hemant Khandelwal was seen stopping at a makeshift footpath shop in Betul on the occasion of Diwali. He bought a handful of traditional clay diyas directly from a local potter, known locally as a kumhar.
The leader used the purchase to highlight the importance of supporting Indian artisans and small‑scale traders during the festive season. He told onlookers that buying locally produced items not only sustains livelihoods but also adds authenticity to the celebrations.
Khandelwal’s brief interaction was captured by market shoppers, who noted his call for consumers to consider the origin of the goods they buy. The message aligns with the party’s broader emphasis on ‘Make in India’ and promoting indigenous craftsmanship.
