The Rajasthan Election Commission has dismissed the BJP’s challenge to the nomination of Congress candidate Ritu Jain for the Sirohi Municipal Council, allowing her to contest the 2026 municipal elections.
The Rajasthan Election Commission (REC) on Thursday rejected the Bharatiya Janata Party’s objection to the nomination of Congress candidate Ritu Jain for the Sirohi Municipal Council.
The BJP had filed a petition alleging procedural irregularities in Jain’s nomination papers, but the REC found no basis for the claim after a review of the documents.
With the objection dismissed, Jain remains on the ballot for the 2026 municipal elections scheduled to be held in Sirohi. The decision is expected to streamline the electoral process in the town.
The BJP has said it will seek a higher court review, while Congress officials welcomed the ruling as a confirmation of the integrity of the nomination process.
