BJP legislator Sankalp Amonkar has been inducted as a minister in the Goa state cabinet, according to The Hindu.
Goa's ruling BJP has expanded its cabinet by appointing MLA Sankalp Amonkar as a minister. The induction was announced by the state government on Monday, marking Amonkar's entry into the executive team for the first time.
Amonkar, who represents the Bicholim constituency, is expected to handle a portfolio that aligns with the party's development agenda, though the specific ministry has not been disclosed in the initial announcement.
The move comes as Chief Minister Pramod Sawant seeks to consolidate support within the party and address key issues such as tourism, infrastructure and coastal management ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Political analysts note that adding a fresh face like Amonkar could help the BJP maintain its foothold in Goa, especially in regions where the party faces stiff competition from regional outfits.
The cabinet expansion was formalised in a ceremony at the Goa Secretariat, where Amonkar took the oath of office alongside other newly appointed ministers.
