The Bharatiya Janata Party has kicked off a countrywide Tiranga Yatra to pay tribute to India's freedom fighters, with rallies planned across major cities.

On 28 August, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) inaugurated a Tiranga Yatra that will traverse major cities across India to honour the nation’s freedom fighters. The march, organised by the party’s national campaign committee, aims to revive patriotic sentiment and highlight the sacrifices made during the struggle for independence.

The itinerary includes stops in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and several other key cities, with each rally featuring speeches by senior party leaders, cultural performances, and flag‑hoisting ceremonies. The party has pledged to visit at least 50 cities over the next two months.

BJP’s chief spokesperson, Arun Kumar, said the Yatra would “reconnect citizens with the legacy of our martyrs” and urged people to participate in the celebrations. The party also announced a special fund to support memorial projects in the regions visited.

Early reports indicate strong turnout at the first rally in Delhi, where thousands gathered to wave tricolor flags and listen to speeches by local BJP leaders. The campaign is expected to boost the party’s visibility ahead of the upcoming state elections.
