The Bharatiya Janata Party has expelled former Member of the Legislative Council Padma Tripura, sparking a heated discussion on social media across Tripura.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formally expelled former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Padma Tripura, a move that has drawn immediate attention from political observers and party workers alike.
The expulsion was announced by the party’s state unit following a series of disagreements between Padma Tripura and senior BJP leaders. While the party has not released a detailed statement, it has indicated that the decision was taken after a review of her conduct and alignment with party principles.
The announcement triggered a wave of reactions on social media platforms, with supporters of Padma Tripura accusing the BJP of political opportunism, while party loyalists defended the decision as a necessary step to maintain discipline.
Political analysts suggest that the expulsion could signal a broader strategy by the BJP to consolidate its leadership structure in Tripura ahead of upcoming elections, but the long‑term impact remains to be seen.
