The BJP has accused the regional alliance in Tamil Nadu of creating a rift over the prime ministerial candidate, alleging that the disagreement has caused turmoil in the state assembly.
BJP leaders have criticised the regional alliance in Tamil Nadu for opposing the party's push to project a prime ministerial face, saying the move undermines the opposition's unity.
They said the disagreement over the PM pitch has exposed a growing rift within the alliance, with some partners reportedly reluctant to back the BJP's suggestion.
The dispute has spilled into the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly, where members have engaged in heated exchanges and procedural disruptions over the issue.
Observers note that the controversy reflects the broader political manoeuvring in the state as parties position themselves ahead of the next electoral cycle.
