The Bharatiya Janata Party has secured seven of the ten Rajya Sabha seats up for election from Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party has captured two, and the outcome of the remaining seat is still undecided.

The Rajya Sabha elections for Uttar Pradesh concluded with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) locking in seven seats out of the ten that were contested. The Samajwadi Party (SP) managed to secure two seats, leaving one seat still open for determination.

Under the single transferable vote system, members of the state legislative assembly cast votes that translate into Rajya Sabha seats. With the BJP holding a dominant majority in the Uttar Pradesh assembly, it was able to convert its strength into seven guaranteed seats, while the SP’s presence ensured it won two.

The tenth seat has become the focal point of political speculation. Both the BJP and SP have indicated potential candidates, and smaller parties or independents could also influence the final outcome if they garner sufficient cross‑party support.

Analysts suggest that the result of the last seat could affect the balance of power in the Upper House, especially as the national government seeks to consolidate its legislative agenda. The final declaration is expected after the remaining votes are counted and certified by the Election Commission.
